AUTUMNThe Canadian Rocky Mountain Marathon and 8Km race, mid September, follows an incredibly scenic route. The festival of Eagles (early October) celebrates the annual southern migration of the golden eagle. Enjoy beautiful fall colours as the leaves change throughout the area - especially the larch trees. Stars shine brightly on cool fall nights, far away from big city lights. Crack the golf ball down the fairway at one of the three scenic and challenging golf courses in Canmore, or at the world famous Banff Springs Golf Course.

WINTERCanmore is the site of the Canmore Nordic Centre which was constructed for the Nordic events at the 1988 Winter Olympics. This world famous ski area hosted many major events such as the World Junior Nordic and Biathlon Championships, Nordic Masters World Championships and continues to host many local cross country and biathlon races. It is truly a world class facility. With Banff National Park and Lake Louise to the west and Kananaskis Country Provincial Park to the south, there are hundreds of groomed trails open for cross country skiing, and many areas of untouched wilderness for touring, backcountry skiing, or take a adventurous dogsled tour with Snowy Owl Tours. Five major alpine ski resorts, one of which hosted the alpine events for the 1988 Olympics, are located within an hour's drive from Canmore.
